The Government 2.0 Taskforce today released their draft report on how the Australian Government can utilise ‘web 2.0’ technologies for final public comment.
The independent Taskforce, chaired by Dr Nicholas Gruen, has been released for public comment to provide people with a final opportunity to participate in providing advice to Government on the topic.
The report is available for review and comment online at the Taskforce’s Blog www.gov2.net.au until 16 December.
Minister for Finance and Deregulation, Lindsay Tanner and Special Minister of State Joe Ludwig established the Taskforce in June to investigate how the Australian Government can use ‘web 2.0’ approaches to expand the uses of Commonwealth information and to improve the way government engages with citizens. A report to the Australian Government is the culmination of that work.
Minister Tanner and Senator Ludwig urged everyone with an interest in open government to take this final opportunity to contribute their ideas and ensure that their views are considered in finalising the report.
Lindsay Tanner said: “Reservoirs of experience and ideas already exist within the public and private sectors and we want to be able to tap into those to achieve more inclusive, open and effective government.”
Senator Ludwig said: “Since coming to office the Rudd Government has embarked on an important integrity agenda, to restore trust and accountability in government.”
“The work of the Taskforce is particularly important to this agenda, by providing advice to Government that will help ensure efficient and effective access to government information.”| Media Contacts: | Website: |
