Special Minister of State, Senator Joe Ludwig, today welcomed an invitation for public submissions to the Parliamentary Entitlements Review Committee.
“Last month I announced reforms that will reduce cost and increase the transparency of the parliamentary entitlements system,” Senator Ludwig said.
“Among the reforms was a further 25% cut to the printing entitlement from $100,000 to $75,000 for MPs, and an expenditure cap for office consumables.”
“In addition, I referred broader matters for future reform to the parliamentary entitlements framework to an independent Committee.”
“The Parliamentary Entitlements Review Committee has commenced its work and is seeking submissions from interested persons.”
“I welcome this invitation from the Committee and encourage members of the public to lodge their views by 20 November 2009.”
