Cabinet Secretary and Special Minister of State
Senator the Hon Joe Ludwig’s Ministerial responsibilities within the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet include, as Cabinet Secretary, management of Cabinet business. Senator Ludwig also has responsibility for the Australian Public Service Commission, Commonwealth Integrity Agencies such as the Australian National Audit Office, the Commonwealth Ombudsman, the National Archives and the Inspector General of Intelligence and Security.
Senator Ludwig also has responsibility for freedom of information, privacy, and Old Parliament House.
Within the Department of Finance and Deregulation, Senator Ludwig, as Special Minister of State, is responsible for the administration of the entitlements provided to Ministers, Senators, Members, Office-holders, former Parliamentarians, and their respective staff (employed under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984), and also has oversight of the Australian Electoral Commission.
